Brittany began her dance education on Cape Cod at the age of two, predominantly in ballet. Throughout her teen years she has performed leading rolls in ballet productions of The Nutcracker, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Don Quixote, Giselle, Cinderella, Piquita, and Dracula. She started dancing competitively in high school where she started to open herself to more forms of dance and won titles in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary and Tap.
In May of 2017 Brittany graduated from the Boston Conservatory with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance Performance, with an emphasis in Dance Pedagogy. While attending the Conservatory, Brittany performed works by Lorraine Chapman, Tommy Neblett, Brian Brooks, Robert Battle, Zoe Scofeild, and Adam Hougland. She studied many ballet and modern techniques in depth with ballet masters and professional company dancers. She also studied human anatomy and experiential anatomy to further her education on the body and its movements.
Although Brittany has been teaching since 2010, she really found her passion for it while furthering her own education at the Conservatory. She trained in ballet, modern and jazz pedagogy with two independent studies; pointe techniques and variations, and a study with a physical therapist on how to teach while nursing or preventing injury. She also studied dance composition and choreography for all four years of her college career. Since graduating she has continued her passion and shared her love for dance with many young students and is so excited to get the opportunity to do that at AEDC.
